In just over six weeks, John has helped me learn scale positions, chords and various playing techniques that all come together to help me actually play the guitar, along with understanding the theory behind it.

I didn't think I'd even be close to playing what I'm playing now in such a short time frame. Looking forward to many more lessons!

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve been having weekly guitar lessons with John for just over a month now, starting as a complete beginner with no guitar experience at all. I’m already learning my first song, which I honestly didn’t expect this quickly.

After a couple of lesson I still didn’t have a guitar and had no idea what I should even be looking for. John ended up sorting everything out for me which made the whole process so much easier.

He’s patient, encouraging and explains things in a way that’s easy to understand. The lessons are relaxed and enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to learn guitar.

Incredible teacher, John is an incredibly patient man who has a great talent for breaking down what at first seems impossible, he tailors each lesson to my style and shows me ways of adapting in ways id never learn myself/internet use. He also likes to find out my favorite bands and artists which makes each lesson mpre fun, I have been learning from him for 6 months now and would recommend him to any beginner wanting to make that first step into playing guitar!

I've been practising guitar for several years and felt I'd reached a plateau and wanted someone to cast an expert eye on my playing. John was able to identify areas of my technique that I could improve on. This has enabled me to get on a pathway to the next level of playing. I'm sure that johns help has enabled me to progress more quickly and it was something that I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to get out of a book or a tuition video. Fortunately, I found John's website and haven't looked back since. With a bucket load of patience, John has set about fixing all my bad habits (there are lots of them) and taking me back to basics. He has a deep knowledge of both theory and practical aspects of the instrument. He is patient and understanding and will move along at whatever pace the student requires. I have had private lessons and am also a member of his social group which meets every Monday. The social group is good fun and consists of all levels of players so don't be shy, come along and see what's happening. Unleash your own Eric Clapton orwhoever you want to be.

What age groups do you teach?

Guitar Tuition is for all ages and experience levels. Having taught people how to play guitar for 20+ years John has worked with young musicians and adults who found music later in life.

How much do lessons cost?

At John Kenny Music, rates are £25 for a 30-minute session and £40 for a full hour.
The lessons are designed to lead you in focused learning, ensuring you get the most value out of each lesson. Generally, adults will benefit more from an hour’s lesson.

Committing to a series of lessons, with regular practice and consistent learning, means you’ll quickly be playing the songs and solos you love.

All musical mysteries solved with patience, especially theory!

We’ll talk about learning techniques so you can learn more effectively and talk through the back story; all the tricks-of-the-trade that I’ve learned over a life-time writing, recording and gigging.

There’s no such thing as a silly question; we’ll have great fun!

Most students stay with me for a couple of years.
You might just love playing at home, it’s very therapeutic or go on to write your own songs, play at Open Mic nights or join a band.

Do I need my own guitar to start lessons?
